Good to know

Questions we get before every party.

Short answers now; our events team covers the details when you send an inquiry.

Plan my event
How far in advance should I book a party at Max's San Diego?

Weekend evenings in May and June (graduation season) and all of December book earliest — reach out six to eight weeks ahead for those, and two to four weeks for weekday lunches and off-peak dates. If your date is sooner, send it anyway; we can often make room.

Is there a minimum, and how is a party priced?

Parties start at 15 guests, and the private party room at Max's San Diego in Mira Mesa holds up to 100. Pricing comes as package totals for your group, based on your headcount and menu. Send the planner with your email and your 3 package totals arrive right away, before you commit to anything.

What occasions can you host?

Birthdays and first birthdays, debuts, celebrations of life, corporate lunches and holiday parties, baptisms and christenings, first communions and confirmations, graduations, anniversaries, weddings, engagement and rehearsal dinners, baby showers, family reunions and balikbayan welcomes, farewell and retirement parties, sweet sixteens, and church, school, and community group gatherings. If it's worth gathering for, tell us.

Can we bring our own cake and decorations?

Yes to the cake and simple decor — a photo wall and table centerpieces. Tell us what you're planning in the notes and we'll confirm what works in the space.

How does the food work for a party?

Your selected menu is served buffet-style. Other favorites not included in a menu option may be ordered as add-ons. No outside food or beverages are permitted.

How long is a party reservation?

Party reservations are booked in two-hour windows — for example, 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. If you'd like more time, mention it in your inquiry notes and we'll see what your date allows.

Do you cater events outside the restaurant?

Ask us. We build party trays and buffet spreads for gatherings at the restaurant, and can talk through trays for off-site events.

Where are you, and how do we get there?

Max's hosts events at three restaurants: San Diego in Mira Mesa (8285 Mira Mesa Blvd, Suite A, off I-15 and I-805), National City (2220 E Plaza Blvd, Suite H) and Chula Vista (2127 Olympic Pkwy, in Eastlake). Call (858) 876-8789 or plan online.

The house that fried chicken built

Eight decades of Sarap to the bones.

Max's Restaurant began as a small café in Quezon City in 1945, where a family recipe for fried chicken made a family name famous. Today Max's serves the Philippines and Filipino communities around the world — including our tables in San Diego, National City and Chula Vista.
